How do you guys paint your models? I always start with the face on LotR models and for some unfathomable reason, the left knee pad for my Space Marines.

I usually do it with paint Nah, serious now, faces are the last thigns I do on LOTR models, if you get some non face paint on the face when you paint the rest of them you have to do it again, it gets annoying, I usually start by doing all Metal, then clothes/robes, then face, extra bits (like quivers, items) then I final touch up.

I do the biggest part first and do one bit of a model at a time. So for my goblins I did the armour on one, then went on to the next and the next ect. Then after I've done them all I'll do the clothing.

I use to start with cloaks but after becoming neater when painting it's safer to paint faces first and now I always paint faces first

If the model's hair needs drybrushing I do that first, followed by drybrushing chainmail or plate armour. Following that, the face, then the cloak, then every other part of clothing. Last bit would probably be belts and specific details.

Not really sure. I think that it differs from model to model unconsciously, although I suppose that it tends to either be big areas such as armour and cloaks first, or lowers levels of clothing such as under shirts which are had to reach without going over other layers of clothing.
