Right well the only way to start a project is to get some ideas first. So what are your thoughts? An idea I had is to do a complete guide to sieges in LoTR SBG. Introducing new rules for fighting in buildings, sieging and also deatailing some of the most prominent battles in LoTr that haven't been done yet. Ones that come to mind are The First Siege of helm's deep (with helm), Siege of Erebor (well it's not in The Companions on TLA and it's gotta be somewhere) and maybe another. Perhaps including a new unit or two for each army. Some guides on making a fortress (okay, there's alot of them around but no siege supplement is complete without it) and other scenery as well as much, much more.
Well hopefully that's got the ball rolling, what do you guys want to see?

With the arrival of winter and the creation of TLotR my "hobby spirit" has been pretty re-newed. I like the idea of a Siege Supplement, however, I think we should aim for a race/area/faction specific theme. I'm gonna go think about this for awhile.

I like the idea, however, the LotR rules are designed for simplicity, so rules for fighing in buildings etc. seem a little pointless to me. Possibly some definitive rules for Siege Battles, with things like Strategic Assets, similar to the Cities of Death rules for 40k; could be interesting. I personally see no need for a point of focus other than this; perhaps giving some scenarios for famous sieges on large scales such as Helm's Deep, Dol Guldor, Minas Tirith, etc. I for one would welcome a supplement that provides rules for fighting large siege games, as I feel large games at 1000pts+ are some of the best in my experience. Keep the ideas coming!

I like that idea Champ, would certainly make a good community project with all of the playtesting and such that would need to be completed.

OOooo yeah, I like the idea of a siege mega-battle type supplement.perhaps try and make a game that will last a day? So between 6-8 hours of play? Could have some interesting results. Playtesting could be a pain but I'm sure we'll find a way around that. With Stratagems and Stuff it might end up abit like LoTR Apocalypse. Don't really know if that's good or bad but I guess we'll have to find out.
Keep up the good work, StrangeGuy

It is a nice idea - siege rules that work. They have just been done for WAB for example with an expansion for sieges

I like the idea of a siege supplement. As Madmat said WAB has it's own "Siege and Conquest" rules, and I've heard they work quite well.

Well we've got the idea, we've got the support , noone has said they dislike it. Shall we start deciding what's gonna be in it?
