Chapter 4
Boromir's horse reared high, sending up a cloud of dust which was fanned away by the horse's beating hooves and flaring nostrils.
Hurian remained paralyzed with shock a the Son of Gondor drew his sword and engaged the orc, who threw back his foul head and cackled wildly as the warg sprang for wards.
There were two brief flashes of silver before the warg and the orc toppled to the ground, black blood trickling from the wounds in their necks.
Hurian suddenly came to his senses and drew his sword as more warg flew over the edge of the outcrop and landed in front of them. More skidded round the sides of the rocks and encircled them.
Hurian's horse turned this way and that, whining loudly. His eyes were wild and he was panting heavily, it's tail thrashed as he pounded the ground with it's hooves.
A hulking black warg padded through the circle it silenced the jeering orcs with a low growl.
Atop of that warg sat a small wiry orc who had an air of command about him.
He spoke with a sneering voice:
"Well, well, well, lookie wot we 'ave 'ere! Some brave souls from the east come teh seek their fortunes, eh?"
He eyed the horses and grinned malevolently.
" 'Ello me beauties can we 'ave ye round fer dinner?"
Many of the orcs laughed but they were once again silenced by a snarl from the black warg.
"Your master will pay for this!" cried Boromir.
"Oh really? Can ye explain that concept for me eh?" The orc chieftain jeered.
Boromir replied: "I am Boromir! Captain of the White Tower! Heir to the Stewardship of Gondor!"
The orc spat on the ground.
"Pah! The rule of Gondor brats mean nothing to us! We take orders only from our master. Anyway the wargs are hungry and its feeding time!"
As the warg sprang for ward, it's mouth agape, a long spear flew past Hurian's ear and pierced straight through the top jaw of the beast and into it's brain which left the blade sticking out of the top of his head.
Hurian was briefly reminded of the unicorns which often appeared in children's tales before the orc chieftain fell onto the point and it pierced what would usually pass for a heart.
Long enough?
