To try and generate interest in my local club I've decided to run either a campaign or a league starting a week this Sunday. So far I've only had two people express interest.
Anyway I've got to think of a good campaign to run, or I'll just use my reserve plan and go with a league (with points award for games along the lines of 0 for a major defeat, 1 for a minor defeat, 2 for a draw, 3 for a minor win and 4 for a major win). For the campaign, I've got to think of something that will use Gondor, Wood/High Elves and Dunland/Orcs.
At the minute, I'm thinking perhaps some sort of Arnor/Angmar Campaign. The perks of this is that both Elves and Gondor fought against Angmar. The Gondorians could also double up as Arnorians for added flavour, while my Dunlendings could represent either men of Carn Dum, or Evil men/Dunlendings that have fallen under the sway of the Witch King. In the books it's mentioned that the Witch King sent out evil spirits all over the place (resulting in the barrow-wights) so I was thinking of having barrow-wights and Spectres in larger games as the Campaign progresses representing a long dead Dunlending king and his court/bodyguard who have been resurected by the same spirits that became the barrow-wights. I also have quite a few Orcs and some wargs that can fill out the Angmar side of the army, and I have a mini that I bought ages ago to be the half-troll character that was in TLA's Fourth Age supplement that could make a nice Bhurdur at a push (not that sure about this last one as he's slightly smaller than a cave troll of which I have two painted anyway). Further, when Mordor is released next month (partly why I want to do the campaign next month), the Black Marshal mini will look nice as the Witch King or even as himself/another Wraith if you ask me.
Do you guys think that this is a good idea for a campaign, or have you got any other suggestions?
Also, how do I run this campaign. My basic idea is something like 250pts games for a couple of weeks, then 500pts for a week or two, and then a final game with 1000pts (if I can field that much that is). However, I would like possibly to do scenarios, with a nice big game at the end. Any suggestions for scenarios other than those in the Arnor book (which I'll have to check for ideas later)?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
