I am considering getting Children of Hurin as a read. Is it any good ? Reviews so far are generally positive, but I want to know your opinion.

I reckon it's pretty good. It's easier to read than the silmarilion

Ah, that's good. I never got far reading the dutch translation of the Silmarillion. It was more a compendium of names then a nice vacation read.

Most definately a good buy, especially now that you can get it a cheaper price if you hunt around.

I have pretty much have all of the books and companion tomes. So if you are keen to have them all, get it. I bought it and don't regret it, but I get it cheaply.
I have to say that Hurin is not my favorite character though. To d**n stubborn and prideful, but then his family was cursed. Nothing like his cousin Huor though.
The jist of the story is in the Quenta Simarillian and either the Lost Tales or Unfinished Tales. It is a tragedy though.
