With the balrog gone after Gandalf killed it, is there any chance that the dwarves could have gradually reclaimed Moria in the 4th age?
Thanks in advance Darknessrising

They might have but i doubt it, the only dwarven colonies i know of in the 4th age are Erebor, The Iron Hills and Gimli's colony in the glittering caves.... The place would most likely be swarming with orcs, for it was the last refuge of the foul creatures before their extinction. The Dwarven numbers were thinned significantly after the siege of Erebor and i don't think they'd want to return to a place full of Dwarves massacred twice over....

Will need to check but I thought that at the end of LotR it does actually talk about the dwarves going back to Moria

the dwarves do reclaim it. I was sure the Gondorians had some part in clearing it out but I havn't been able to find anything about it.

From the encyclopedia of arda
After several centuries, Durin VII became King of Durin's Folk, and led a further return to the citadel. It seems he was successful, so that long after the War of the Ring, the Dwarves of Durin's line reclaimed their inheritance, and the hammers rang again in their great halls beneath the Misty Mountains.
Now looking at this it would seem that this appears in the drafts of the appendices but it is unclear whether Tolkien ever meant it to stay in the story

It says somewhere in Weapons and Warfare that Gimli led a party of Dwarves (and Gondorians led by Aragorn) into Moria, where they reclaimed it. It also says that Durin VII later fully reclaimed the city, but there weren't enough Dwarves to completely populate it, and after his death there was never another Dwarf King named Durin.

In the Weapons and Warfare book, I swear it doesn't say that, but that "Moria was never reclaimed in the Fourth Age..."
Of course, the W&W book is most amazing and good in the factors and functions of the movie weapons and battles that occurred, but it of course takes the movie trilogy as gospel, and deviates like that and sometimes a bit more from the original novel.
So, with that....I am personally unsure of what the definitive novel-esque answer is, but I expect Madmat and the Enc. of Arda is correct

According to wikipedia's bit on Moria...
With the death of the Balrog, the way was at last clear for the Longbeards to reclaim the Dwarrowdelf however, and it is told that a few centuries into the Fourth Age, Durin VII - a descendant (some sources say the son) of Thorin III Stonehelm - at last led his people back to their longed-for ancient homeland early in the Fourth Age, retrieving what they could of Khazad-dûm's once-mighty riches.

Yep, according to Weapons and Warfare it says that the Orcs of Moria were extenguished, but Dwarves never again settled there. But, I'd like to think that Encyclopedia of Arda is more correct. However, it's even more likely we'll never truly know :\
