Actually, it says there he is confirmed executive producer, and a director has yet to be named.
Anyway, I am quite glad he is working on the Hobbit, IMO its just not LOTR without him, he did a great job with the origional trilogy and I hope he brings something special to this one too.
Do you think they are going to film in NZ again, I certainly hope so, maybe they will come to Napier, that would be awesome. Or at least somewhere where I can visit. (I once went up to where they filmed the Shire, all the hobbit holes are still there and so is the party tree and stuff, it was really cool)

[glow=green,2,300]Maybe they'll build Erebor at that digging place in Lower Hutt, the same place where they built Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep.[/glow]

Maybe aye, that would probably be one of the best places to do it. Wait, you live in Welly don't you, you would have been able to have seen it when it was Helm's Deep wouldn't you?

I am guessing they will use they the same effects as they did for Sapphira on Eragon. I am pretty sure Weta did her, hopefully they will do the Hobbit too

Amazing mega brilliant w00t yay!
I am so glad that they have Jackson on board; it would not have been the same without him and his staff, and all the Middle-earth imagery and stuff.
A great piece of news for us Tolkien fans.

Nope, the last I heard there's going to be two movies - the first will be The Hobbit as we know it, but the second will be more of a prologue for the War of the Rings (Aragorn's journeys, "minor" battles, etc.) But, that's only the last I heard, so who knows. Cheers, -mike
